The highest high ropes course with a height of 27 metres is located in Area47 at the entrance to the Ötztal. The Hornpark in St. Johann near Kitzbühel is the largest high ropes course with an area of 25,000m². The high ropes course with the most elements is the Schlossberg climbing park in Lienz - over 200 exercises are available here. Another special feature is the Outdoor Parcours Ötztal, which was not only built between trees, but also incorporates natural elements such as rocks - this also makes it the longest high ropes course in Tyrol, as it takes around 4 to 5 hours to complete.
There is no clear answer to this question, as it depends on the type of rainy weather: in principle, the exercises are protected from the rain due to the tree canopy and can therefore usually still be climbed and balanced in slightly wet weather. For safety reasons, the high ropes courses are of course closed in heavy rain and especially in the event of thunderstorms and storm warnings. If in doubt, it is always advisable to contact the operator of the high ropes course.
Each of the high ropes courses and forest ropes courses in this country may only be used when secured. The "Smart Belay" safety system from Edelrid or "SafetyLine" is used in almost all Tyrolean high ropes courses. Both of these systems are secured by two carabiners and prevent accidental unhooking from the safety ropes. However, how safe a high ropes course is also depends on your own behaviour. In any case, guests receive training in the safety system and the rules of behaviour before entering - usually even on a specially designed practice course. If there are any difficulties on the course, it is also possible to abort almost anywhere and be accompanied to solid ground by the staff on site.
Yes, high ropes courses are also suitable for children from a certain minimum size or age. The requirements are determined by the respective forest ropes courses themselves, whereby some - e.g. the X-Trees forest ropes course in Serfaus, the Wichtelpark adventure park in Sillian and the Großvenediger forest ropes course - have created their own courses for the little ones.
Yes, the high ropes courses are open to everyone and can normally be done by anyone in good health and average fitness.
As a rule, good shoes and clothing in which you can move freely are sufficient for a visit to the high ropes course. In some high ropes courses, gloves (e.g. climbing gloves or bike gloves) are also recommended. You are not normally allowed to use your own helmets and safety systems; appropriate equipment is provided on site.
