Welcome to the showcase of Zillertal Valley—the Zillertal High Elevation Road climbs up to 2,020 meters above sea level and provides matchless views of the Zillertal Alps. The 48-kilometer long road was built in the early 1960ies to facilitate the cultivation of Alpine pastures for local farmers. Later it was opened to the public as this spectacular route was thought to be good for a scenic drive. Today, the road welcomes motorcycle riders, leisure drivers and all others hungry for a taste of Tirol’s history and scenic beauty. And those looking for something to eat, can refuel with culinary delicacies served at friendly mountain inns and snack bars along the road.
