Wreathed in myths, there’s something truly magical about Zammer Lochputz, Tirol’s Mystical Gorge. Lötzbach Creek plunges over cliffs of limestone, laid down many million years ago. Leading up from one of Tirol’s oldest hydroelectric power plants through pine forest, a scenic and safe Waterfall Trail with interpretive signs passes magnificent scenery via a series of stunning waterfalls and geological features – a magical misty tour that will lead you deep into the gorge. Views of the waterfalls will be revealed along the way from many spectacular viewing points. With a drop of 30 meters, the white water of Lötz Waterfall cascades over the weather-scarred rocks in a foaming, spewing onrush of unrestrained energy. Look out for the head of a bull and a nymph and find out about the mythology of this place in a multi-media show at Lötzturm, a fortified tower built during the Appenzell Wars in the early 15th century.
