Take a step back in time and whisk your child away to a land of prehistoric make believe: Triassic Park on Steinplatte Mountain in Waidring is a great place of discovery, amazement and experiencing great prehistoric adventures. Afterwards, Triassic Beach provides a splashtastic time for kids of all ages.
The petrified corals and prehistoric fossils at this adventure park high above Waidring are 200 million years in the making (back in the Late Triassic period, when dinosaurs ruled the earth), and are definitely way more wondrous than your average leafy green forest. The enormity of fossils in Steinplatte area can be credited to the fact that today’s 1,869-meter peak was once buried by Tethys, the primeval sea. After the gondola ride to the top, kids can marvel over the 400-square-meter facility’s educational and awe-worthy dinosaur casts, real dinosaur fossils, interactive displays and hands-on exhibits. Outside, animatronic dinosaurs and an awesome theme-related playground round out the experience. Triassic Trail features interpretive displays along a 4-kilometer long loop trail that tell you about the excavation and fossils discovered in the area, as well as point out petrified corals. The trail is accessible for pushchairs and strollers. After all that learning, where better to relax than at the Triassic Beach with its 30m tube slide and small pool to cool off in.
