Capture 360 degree views of the Eastern Alps, as the new 3S Eisgratbahn (Section I & II) and Schaufeljochbahn Gondolas speed you to the world of 109 "Three-Thousanders", high altitude peaks averaging 3,000 meters in elevation: “Top of Tyrol” is a spectacular mountaintop viewing platform on Stubai Glacier that juts out over a heap of mountains for nine incredible meters and is within a five minutes’ walk from the gondola’s top terminal. After enjoying the jaw-dropping views, refuel with local delicacies at Jochdohle Restaurant.
After travelling up into the mountains on the state-of-the-art Eisgratbahn and Schaufeljochbahn Gondolas, visitors will find themselves in the heart of the Stubai Glacier ski resort at 3,210 metres above sea level. From the top of the gondola it is just a five-minute stroll to what is without a doubt one of the most impressive attractions in the Stubai Valley, the “Top of Tyrol” viewing platform. On a clear day you will be able to see more than 109 peaks over 3,000 metres – from the Stubai Alps in Tirol to the Dolomites and the Ortler in Italy. A free Viscope telescope provides detailed information on many of the mountains and allows visitors to zoom in on each peak one by one. Weighing in at 20 metric tonnes, the viewing platform is an eye-catching feat of engineering in its own right. It was designed by a team of architects from Innsbruck and is made of red-brown weathered Corten steel. The construction juts nine metres out into the abyss, giving visitors the feeling of floating in mid-air. Little wonder that the well-known travel magazine GEO named Top of Tyrol among its top ten most beautiful viewing platforms in the world.
