Rosenalm is home to a treehouse castle fit for kings and queens, called the 'Fichtenschloss' or 'Spruce Castle'. It is made entirely of wood, with four towers that look out over the beautiful surrounding scenery. The newest highlight is the spruce lake right beside the castle.
This place is guaranteed to keep young — and young-at-heart — imaginations fuelled with plenty of active play ideas. Four towers rise to the sky, connected by bridges and a dramatic canopy walkway with water play facilities. The Spruce Tree Castle is the center of this 5,000 square meter magic mountain playground at Rosenalm high above Zell am Ziller (visitors can ride Rosenalmbahn gondola to get there). They say the castle was built for a princely couple by hard-working spruce gnomes. The result is this stunning playspace made from spruce. As if the castle itself wasn’t enough, the addition of a slide tower, a crane tower, a climbing tower and a lookout tower that stands 18 meters tall puts it over the edge into 8th World Wonder territory! Complete with a spruce gnome builders hut, this castle fortress provides endless opportunity for adventurous and imaginative play. After all that action adn adventure, why not cool off with a dip in the Fichtensee lake complete with jettys, a floating island, boats for hire, quiet zones and a shallow water area? There is also a walking trail suitable for buggies connecting the Spruce Castle to the lake and the top station of the Rosenalmbahn cable car. In summer, this amazing on-mountain playground also has a beautiful gnome-style BBQ site where you can grill your own food between 11:00am and 2:00pm.
