Spannagel Cave at Hintertux Glacier is Europe’s highest-lying subterranean show cave. The cave has arisen in a large vein of Jurassic calcite marble. With a measured length to date of 12.5 kilometres, Spannagel Cave is the longest cave network in the Central Alps and offers a genuine adventure. Year-round, marble step passages lead down into the magnificent natural wonder. Guided one-hour tours take visitors deep into the mountainside in the labyrinth of caverns. Inside the cave, you will find splendid stalactites and stalagmites, fascinating sinter formations, sparkling crystals, marbles, and more. Pass by cauldron-shaped erosions and perfectly spherical glacial stones and gaze in wonder at treasures from the inside of the mountain in the Cave Museum. Adventurous-minded spelunkers can explore the cavern system on challenging 3-hour cave trekking trips.
