This spectacular twisting road leading onto the Kitzbühel Horn mountain measures 7.5 kilometres in length and ends at the Gasthof Alpenhaus, a charming mountain inn serving traditional food. The road itself is a non-stop series of amazing views over the Kitzbühel Alps to the west of the Leukental Valley.
Around two kilometres north of the centre of Kitzbühel, where the small Walsenbach stream meets the Kitzbüheler Ache river, is where the alpine road up onto the Kitzbühel Horn begins. It winds its way in numerous switchback corners up past a few alpine huts. The views are amazing, but drivers will want to keep their eyes firmly on the road: the gradient reaches up to 18% in places. After 7.5 kilometres the road ends at the Gasthof Alpenhaus at 1,670 metres above sea level. This pretty mountain inn serving hearty Tirolean food is a good place to take a break as you let your eyes wander from peak to peak. Those wishing to stretch their legs a little more can undertake a short walk, for example to the nearby alpine flower garden.
