Landeck Castle

Landeck

Standing sentinel above the small town of the same name, this 13th-century hilltop castle is visible from afar. Landeck Castle was erected around 1290 to serve as seat of court and administration. Located on the Via Claudia Augusta, the Historic Roman Road, the castle remains as evidence of its turbulent history. Landeck Castle’s heyday was during the reign of the Knights of Schrofenstein. Today, Landeck Castle is the landmark of town and serves as a local heritage museum and cultural center. The stunning permanent exhibition named “Staying or Leaving” brings to life over 800 years of dramatic local history. The Gallery at Landeck Castle features regular exhibitions of local and international contemporary artworks. Little ones will love the exciting treasure hunt of the castle where knights are explored and treasure stones are to be found.
