The medieval center of Rattenberg, Austria’s smallest town, is full of revitalized townhouses, cobbled streets and alleyways—and has at its heart Kisslinger Glassblowing Shop. The shop displays a huge selection of their wonderful creations on four floors, from crystal chalices to delicate glasses, from glass jewellery to glass plates.
Operated by the Kisslinger Family of glass artists with almost 400 years of experience, they continue the tradition of performing live glassblowing demonstrations for the enjoyment and education of their visitors. At Kisslinger, every single product is a unique item, handmade with care and love to the detail. Glass blowers are presenting their fine artistic skills in the glass factory's showroom where everyone can marvel at the century-old glass blowing techniques. All items on sale in the historic building are original hand blown creations. The workshop, which is spread over four floors and a total of 1,000 square metres, includes an exhibition and factory shop. There is even the chance to have a go yourself and learn the art of glass-blowing from one of the friendly experts, creating a unique souvenir to take home. Kisslinger today exports its fine glassware to countries throughout Europe and the world.
Live glassblowing demonstrations take place Mondays to Fridays 9:00am to 12:00 noon and 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Shorter opening hours in January. Guided tours for groups are available by prior arrangement. Admission is free.
