The Alpine Flower Garden on the famous Kitzbüheler Horn mountain is home to more than 400 plants native to the high mountains. It is worth a visit all summer, with different flowers blooming at different times of the year.
From the top of the Hornbahn cable car at 1,996 metres above sea level it is just a short walk to the Alpine Flower Garden slightly further down the mountain. The garden itself covers 20,000 square metres and is covered with walking paths, ponds, viewing platforms and, of course, countless plants native to this part of the Alps such as the yellow alpine poppy and the white alpine poppy as well as arnica, edelweiss, yellow gentian, the beautiful purple alpine toadflax and the eye-catching woolly thistle. The garden also has a large number of plants from mountainous regions around the world such as the Caucasus and the Andes. The pink incarvillea even comes from the Himalayas, where it can be found on many slopes over 4,000 metres in the eastern part of Tibet. Guided tours are available free of charge (to sign up for a guided tour, please send an e-mail to hornbahn@kitzski.at).
