Summit hike: Mayrhofen Ahornbahn bottom station - Ahornspitze

Start your adventure at the Ahornbahn in Mayrhofen and hike via Alpenrose, 1.389 m to the Edelhütte, 2.238 m, before daring the challenging ascent over the Silbersattel to the Ahornspitze, 2.973 m. Sure-footedness and a head for heights are a must, but the breathtaking panoramic view makes every effort worthwhile – the return journey can optionally be shortened with the Ahornbahn.

Description

From the Ahornbahn in Mayrhofen, you take hiking trail No. 42 from the district of Kumbichl towards Alpenrose (Fellenberg), 1.389 m. From there, you follow trail No. 514 to the Edelhütte, 2.238 m. From there, you continue ascending on marked path No. 42 and follow it to Silbersattel, also known as Popbergschneide, 2.700 m. From here, the ascent becomes more demanding and requires surefootedness and a head for heights. The path leads over large slabs of rock to the southern summit of Ahornspitze and then onwards to the main summit, Ahornspitz, 2.973 m. The return journey follows the same route or can be shortened using the Ahornbahn.
