You can see the giant Steinmandl early on when you set off for the Brandberger Kolm. Fortunately, because the Brandberger Kolm is at least as beautiful from below as it is from above.
From the municipal office on the Brandberg, you start your hike in the direction of Gasthaus Thanner. Then follow trail no. 513 to the Kolmhaus. From the Kolmhaus, the path leads flat through the Brandberger cirque eastwards and then continues uphill to an alpine pasture. There the path to the Kolm turns off to the right. Follow this path until you reach a striking "Steinmandl". The path then winds steeply upwards through scree slopes. Finally, there is a short climb before you reach the broad summit with the summit cross.
This route requires a good head for heights and surefootedness.
