Much of the mountain bike riding in Wildschönau is suitable for families. The well-maintained trails generally wind their way between small villages and up over rolling hills, though there are also some longer rides where advanced and expert bikers can stretch their legs.
Wildschönau is perfect for those who prefer cruising to climbing. Most of the mountains here are more rolling than rugged, making them ideal terrain for families with children keen to explore the region using pedal power. We recommend the ride from Auffach up along the tarmac road to the Hohlrieder Kogel mountain at 1,312 metres. The Markbachjoch mountain near Niederau can be accesed by cable car (including bike transport). Advanced and expert riders can take on some of the longer rides in the region such as the loop from Thierbach, the highest church villag in Wildschönau, around the Gratlspitze mountain with a total of 1,200 vertical metres of climbing and 20 kilomtetres in length. The region is also home to a number of stages from the Bike Trail Tirol and the Bike Safari Tirol, two long-distance mountain bike routes taking in the whole of Tirol from east to west.
