Family ski holidays in Stubai Valley

Families with children spending their winter holiday in the Stubai Valley can choose between a compact and quiet ski resort ideal for beginners and those who like to take things easy and Austria's largest glacier ski resort with pistes stretching all the way up to 3,210 metres above sea level and perfect conditions through until June.

The resort of Schlick 2000 at the start of the Stubai Valley is ideal for beginners and those returning to snow after a few years away. Its compact size makes it ideal for families. At the mid-way cable car station there is a children's area called Big Ron's Kinderland, where parents can leave their kids in safe hands with the friendly and experienced childcare team. On-snow features designed for youngsters include an easy-to-use conveyor belt lift, snow carousels and a slalom run where young racers can show Mum and Dad what they have been learning in ski school. The equipment hire shop is also located next to the cable car at the mid-way station. Advanced and expert skiers will also find plenty to keep them busy. The resort has several red and black pistes, while holders of the Super Skipass can also use the Stubai Glacier at the end of the valley. Austria's largest glacier ski area is ideal for families and offers great conditions from October all the way through to late spring. Highlights for children include the Big Family Ski Camp, a family-friendly restaurant and the Big Familiy Funslope. And all that on slopes up to 3,210 metres above sea level.

Fancy a break from the slopes? No problem! The Big Family Winter Programme contains a wide range of attractions and activities away from the pistes. Visit the fascinating Ice Grotto inside the Stubai Glacier or soothe those tired muscles with a day at the Stubay spa and adventure pool with a separate children's pool and rubber ring slide. The valley also has a natural ice skating rink where skates can be hired out on site, while in the evenings there is the chance to take part in a torchlit walk through the snowy landscape or a ride on a sled pulled by real huskies.

Special family deals. The ski resort offers reduced rates for children and youths. Children under 10 years of age ski for free when accompanied by a paying parent.

Children's ski schools. Located in the ski resort of Schlick 2000 near Fulpmes, the Schischule Stubai Tirol ski school has received an award in recognition of its family-friendly facilities. Little wonder considering how much there is to see and do for younsters, from children's parties, wild animal safaris and a large beginners' practice area to regular ski races for all ages.
