The region around St. Anton am Arlberg is a haven for ambitious walkers and hikers. It takes in the south-western peaks of the Lechtal Alps and the eastern summits of the Verwall Mountains. As well as challenging high-mountain adventures, the area also has plenty of family-friendly trails with great views.
There is plenty of challenging hiking around St. Anton am Arlberg, but those who like to take it easy can enjoy fabulous views of the iconic Hoher Riffler mountain without breaking a sweat. Two cable cars give quick and easy access to the Adlerblick viewing platform on the Kapall mountain at 2,330 metres above sea level. At the same time, the viewing platform marks the starting point for stage 24 of the Eagle Walk. This section of the 33-stage trek crossing Tirol from east to west leads along a rocky ridge through exposed terrain to the Leutkircher Hütte. Two further huts, the Kaiserjochhaus and the Ansbacher Hütte, offer majestic views of the Stanzertal Valley. These two huts are connected by a further stage of the Eagle Walk. Further down in the valley there are plenty of options for families with children, many of which feature lifts and cable cars to reduce the walking distance. One of the most popular is the five-kilometre-long themed "Mutspuren" trail on the Galzig mountain, while the "Alpenrosenweg St. Anton" starting from the top of the Rendlbahn cable car is also well worth a visit.
