Forests, meadows and mountains make for a varied riding experience in the Karwendel Silver Region. This area east of Innsbruck is ideal for everyone from families to ambitious downhillers.
The Karwendel Silver Region includes the Karwendel Nature Park and the northern peaks of the Tux Alps. Both areas offer a wide range of mountain biking trails. Families will enjoy the gentle southern slopes of the Karwendel Mountains, including the rides up to the Hinterhornalm and the Ganalm, two cosy huts high in the mountains. To the south of Schwaz there is plenty of forest – perfect for riding on a hot summer's day. Fit families will enjoy the routes on the Weerberg mountain and through the Schwazer Wald forest. Stage 19 of the Bike Trail Tirol takes riders up onto the 2,292-metre-high Geiseljoch, where breathtaking views of the Inn Valley and the Zillertal Valley are a fine reward for all that hard work. Advanced riders can also ride around the 2,344-metre-high Kellerjoch mountain near Schwaz – a challenge for the legs but well worth it for the views.
