The ski resort of Glungezer may not be the biggest in Tirol, but its compact size and easy slopes make it a firm favourite with families. A ten-person gondola transports skiers and snowboarders from the village of Tulfes up into the resort.
The Glungezer resort is located in the mountains to the south of Hall in Tirol. The range of slopes on offer is limited compared with some of Tirol's more famous ski areas, but the seven lifts and 23 kilometres of ski pistes is plenty for families and beginners. Most of the runs are easy (blue) or intermediate (red). There is a separate children's area with gentle slopes ideal for those tentative first turns on snow. Parents can enjoy the view of the Nordkette mountains on the other side of the valley. Three restaurants on the mountain serve food and drink, the highest of which is the Tulfeinalm hut at 2,035 metres. A final challenge awaits at the end of the day in the form of a 15-kilometre-long run all the way back down into the valley.
