Fabulous hiking, perfect pistes and crystal clear mountain lakes – the PillerseeTal Region in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and families.
Skiing in winter, climbing in summer, a journey back in time at Triassic Park or action and adventure on the Timoks Alm discovery trail – there is so much for guests to see and do in the Pillerseetal Valley. This region in the Kitzbühel Alps, between the Steinplatte mountain and the Loferer Rocky Mountains, offers untouched nature, fabulous views and lots of activities for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages.
Snow-sure slopes and emerald green waters
At the heart of the region lies Lake Pillersee, from which the valley derives its name. Located at the foot of the mighty Loferer Rocky Mountains, its shimmering turquoise waters draw guests and locals alike to cool off in summer. Activities in the surrounding mountains include everything from riding and rafting to rock climbing and mountain biking. Though spectacular views can be found almost everywhere, the viewing platform at the summit of the Steinplatte is well worth a visit – but only for those with a strong stomach: the platform extends 70m from the rock face out into nothing but fresh mountain air.
The region‘s three ski resorts of Fieberbrunn/Streuböden, Pillersee/Buchensteinwand and Waidring/Steinplatte guarantee snow from November until Easter, making the Pillerseetal Valley one of the most snowsure regions in Tirol. There are also several cross-country skiing trails in the region. Adults visiting nearby Hochfilzen can even try their hand at biathlon, a popular winter sport combining cross-country skiing and shooting. Fieberbrunn, St. Jakob in Haus, St. Ulrich am Pillersee and Waidring, the other villages in the region, also have a wide range of activities for sports enthusiasts.
