Classic or Skating? Whichever style of cross-country skiing you prefer, the 143km of trails on offer in the Ötztal Valley ensure plenty of action and adventure for everyone. All in all there are 77 kilometres of trails for the gentler and more relaxing Classic technique, while fans of the faster and more dynamic Skating style will find 66 kilometres of trails to explore. Use of the trails is free of charge, and there are plenty of rental shops throughout the valley where all the equipment needed for cross-country skiing can be hired. Beginners and advanced skiers alike can work on their technique with an instuctor from one of the local ski schools. The villages of Längenfeld, Umhausen and Niederthai all offer floodlit skiing in the evenings. Families with children will enjoy the easy cross-country skiing trail in Vent, which has an outdoor play area for children right next to it.
