Mayrhofen-Hippach is criss-crossed by numerous mountain bike trails suitable for all abilities. The landscape is characterised by lush meadows, quiet side valleys – known in this part of Tirol as "Gründe" – and numerous reservoirs.
Mayrhofen lies between the Tux Alps and the Zillertal Alps. Mountain bikers here can start the day the easy way by taking the cable car up onto the Penkenberg mountain, where five trails await including one to the Rastkogelhütte hut at 2,117 metres above sea level. Another good starting point is the Schwendberg mountain near Hippach. Route 401 leads to Zell am Ziller and also takes in sections of the Zillertal Valley High Road. Families will enjoy exploring the side valleys of Stillupgrund and Zillergrund. The huge dam wall at the Zillergründl reservoir can be explored on two wheels – just like the area behind the reservoir, known to locals as "Mini Tibet". Last but not least, the Bike Trail Tirol and the Bike Safari Tirol also lead through the region.
