The well-marked trail network features over 700 kilometers of tracked and skate-groomed terrain for skiers, ideally suited to all ability levels, from novice to expert. There is no fee to use the trails in the Kitzbühel Alps; a small fee applies to the trails in Pillerseetal Valley.
One of Tirol’s oldest signature Nordic ski races—the legendary annual Koasalauf is held each February in St. Johann in Tirol: The lofty mountain massif of Wilder Kaiser, lovingly dubbed Koasa, gave the race its name and is towering competitors all along their way. The course takes passionate cross country skiers through the environs of St. Johann in Tirol, Oberndorf, Kirchdorf and Erpfendorf on wonderful and immaculately groomed trails. The 28K or 50K skate or diagonal stride race is a great way to test personal endurance.
