From mountain adventures to watersports action and local attractions, the Brixental Valley has plenty to offer visitors keen to get back to nature in one of the quietest areas of Tirol.
One of the most popular destinations for walkers is the Johanneskapelle, a mountain chapel perched at 1,829 metres above sea level. Those who don't fancy hiking up to what is considered Austria's highest place of pilgrimage can take the cable car. Fabulous views of the surrounding landscape await atop the Hohe Salve mountain. Further down in the valley there are a number of outdoor pools and natural swimming lakes in Kirchdorf, Brixen im Thale, Westendorf and Hopfgarten – the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer's day. Further highlights for families include the "summer coaster", a single-seater mini rollercoaster winding its way down the mountainside, as well as minigolf and a working dairy farm where you can see how the tangy local cheese is made and even try some!
