The Hahnenkamm mountain and its Streif downhill run enjoys legendary status in the skiing world. Golfers keen to experience the Kitzbühel region in summer will find a number of courses suitable for all tastes and abilities.
Fans of ski racing know all about the Hahnenkamm, where the world's best downhill racers do battle each year in January. But did you know that during the summer months the finish area of the legendary Streif piste is actually part of the local golf club? The course at the Rasmushof in Kitzbühel has nine holes at the foot of the famous mountain near the centre of the village. The Golfclub Eichenheim, situated a little outside Kitzbühel on the way to Aurach, is somewhat larger and has everything from jagged mountains to thick forests and babbling streams surrounding its 18-hole course. Kaps Castle is home to one of the oldest golf courses in Tirol, a 9-hole complex with lakes, castle walls and a luxury hotel. Last but certainly not least we have the Golfplatz Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith, where lots of water features make for a challenging golfing experience. There is even a particularly tough section called the "Mausefalle" ("Mouse Trap"), taking its name from one of the most dangeorus jumps the ski racers have to negotiate on the downhill course in Kitzbühel.
