Waterparks to former mines, museums to natural lakes – the area in and around Kitzbühel is full of attractions for all the family.
Roadbike riders and motorcyclists love the high-alpine road which winds its way 7.5 kilometres up to the Gasthof Alpenhaus on the Kitzbüheler Horn mountain. Up at the top await not only fantastic views but also a large alpine flower garden which can be reached easily on foot. Deep down underground, below Jochberg, visitors equipped with a hard hat and bright torch can experience what life was like here hundreds of years ago for miners. Back on the surface you can cool off with a dip in the Schwarzsee lake between Kitzbühel and Reith or the Gieringer Weiher swimming area. Both are moorland lakes with warm, clean water naturally filtered by the plants growing there. Families with children should visit the animal park in Aurach, home to deer, sheep, goats, kangaroos, llamas and Tibetan yaks.
