Snowshoeing & Winter Walking in the Kitzbühel Alps

Hiking in the wintertime through evergreen forests draped in a fresh blanket of white, glittering snow is a terrific way to experience the natural beauty of the Kitzbühel Alps.

A snowshoeing adventure gives the opportunity to take a break from skiing in Kitzbühel. Take in the stunning winter scenery from one of the many winter walks along the 400-kilometer system of trails that are cleared and designated for winter walking—winding around open meadows, through thick pine forests, and past gurgling creeks. Trained naturalists will accompany you on guided tours and share their knowledge about the area’s hidden treasures, such as Windau Valley near Westendorf, Kelchsau near Hopfgarten, Kaiserbach Valley near Kirchdorf, Pillersee in St. Ulrich am Pillersee, Angerberg and Mariastein. Embrace winter’s romance with a horse-drawn dinner sleigh ride or light up the night as you walk through winter wonderland with torches in hand. Warm up, fuel up, and socialize in a rustic lodge afterwards. Kitzbühel Alps is where all your wintertime fantasies will be fulfilled.

Recommended Experience - Pillerseetal: Families with children will love the guided torchlit walks from the bottom of the ski lifts at Streuböden in Fieberbrunn up to the Lauchsee lake. Up at the top there is hot punch and traditional music. The walk is organised every Wednesday at 19:30 from 22.12. 2021 until 09.03.2022. Maximum number of participants: 25. The route is short (3.7 kilometres) and easy, making it suitable for children and older visitors. To take part, please contact the Pillerseetal Valley Tourism Board by calling +43 (0)5354 56 304 or sending an e-mail to  info@pillerseetal.at (by 16:00 on Tuesday); Adults with guestcard: €8. Adults without guestcard €15. Children up to 15 years of age: free.
