Towered over by the lofty Kitzbühel Horn Peak and rugged Wilder Kaiser Mountains, the Kitzbühel Alps are a mountain biker’s playground offering everything from easy tours to challenging singletrack.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Kitzbühel Horn and the craggy peaks of the Wilder Kaiser Mountains, the Kitzbühel Alps region is a haven for mountain bikers. One of the most popular rides is the three-day circular ride starting in Wörgl and leading through the region. Most of the riding is one wide gravel trails. More challenging riding can be found on the Gaisberg Trail, the Fleckalm Trail and the Lisi Osl Trail named after a famous local mountain biker. We also recommend trying at least one stage of the KAT Bike, a multi-day ride across the Kitzbühel Alps in four stages from Mariastein to Fieberbrunn. The full route comprises 180 kilometres of riding with 6,250 vertical metres of elevation gain. Hardcore riders take everything they need with them in a rucksack, but there is also the option of a luggage transport service which will pick up your bags in the morning and take them to your next accommodation so they are ready and waiting for you when you arrive. Riders who wish to polish their bike-handling skills can take part in one of the workshops offered by Kurt Exenberger at his Bike Academy in St. Johann in Tirol.
