Hidden away between the Chiemgau Alps and the Kaiser Mountains, the Kaiserwinkl is home to a large network of mountain bike trails criss-crossing the gently rolling landscape. Families, cruisers and experts will all find plenty of options.
Families and those new to the sport of mountain biking will enjoy the easy routes along the valley floor, while ambitious riders can test themselves on some of the tricker trails high in the mountains. Most of the riding in the north of the region is relatively gentle, with lots of huts en route serving hearty local food. We recommend a ride to the Naringalm hut near Kössen with its fabulous views of the Kaiser Mountains. The Wilder Kaiser Loop is a circular ride down in the valley taking bikers around the mountains of the Wilder Kaiser and Zahmer Kaiser massifs – including the option to stop and and cool off with a dip in either the Walchsee or the Hintersteiner See lake. The southern part of the region has more challenging riding, for example up to the Bärenhütte hut (1,480 metres) on the Unterberghorn mountain. Stage 11 of the Bike Trail Tirol also leads through the region. After 1,900 vertical metres of climbing it concludes near the top of the famous Kitzbüheler Horn mountain.
