The TirolWest region is criss-crossed by a large network of mountain bike trails leading past ancient ruins, through thick forests and across lush meadows. Some of the best riding leads into the Ötztal Alps, the Silvretta Mountains, the Verwall Mountains and the Samnaun Mountains.
The area around Landeck, the largest town in the region, is home to many mountain biking routes giving easy access to its most beautiful side valleys. We recommend a ride along the banks of the Trisanna river into the Paznauntal Valley or along a section of the wide Upper Inn Valley. A number of the trails, most of which are rated intermediate or difficult, offer fine views of the Kronburg castle ruins high above Zams or lead past Landeck Castle. The riding in this region is suitable for e-bikes – a good idea on some of the longer rides. The four-day Samnaun Loop, for example, comprises 142 kilometres of riding and leads around the Samnaun Mountains south-west of Landeck. Sections of the Bike Trail Tirol and the Bike Safari Tirol also lead through the region, though these stages require good bike-handling skills, which can be trained in the bike park in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis.
