The region is home to one small and one large ski resort with plenty of easy slopes for kids and beginners as well as intermediate cruising and challenging slopes for advanced and expert skiers.
Family-friendly pistes, a beginners' area, childcare within the resort, a funslope, ski touring and one of the longest runs in the Zillertal Valley – the ski area on the Spieljoch mountain may be small but it has a lot to offer. More action and adventure awaits at the nearby resort of Hochfügen-Hochzillertal, which can be easily accessed using the local shuttle bus. As well as easy, intermediate and difficult pistes there is plenty of off-piste ski touring, a snowpark, a race course, a slalom run and lots of family-friendly attractions. Snow is guaranteed on the slopes stretching up to 2,400 metres above sea level. Don't forget to stop off at one of the huts and restaurants next to the slopes serving hearty local food. Foodies should pay a visit to the Wedelhütte or the Alexander in Hochfügen – one of Austria's best fine-dining restaurants listed in the country's leading guides.
