Family-Friendly Ski Holidays in Zillertal Valley’s First Region

The resort of Spieljoch-Fügen at the start of the valley is ideal for families with children – easily accessible, excellent pistes and lots of attractions for visitors of all ages.

With ten lifts, gentle slopes and wide pistes, Spieljoch-Fügen has everything families with younger children are looking for. At the bottom of the resort, next to the cable cars, there is a large practice area with easy conveyor-belt lifts perfect for youngsters taking their first tentative turns on snow. You will also find a number of easy beginners' areas further up the mountain. Childcare is provided by the local ski school at the top of the main cable car in the form of the Zwergerl Club, a play group aimed at children of kindergarden and primary school age.

When it comes to the resort itself, adults and children alike can look forward to 21 kilometres of slopes. Most are graded blue (easy) or red (intermediate). Confident skiers will enjoy the funslope with its obstacles and challenges, the snowpark with its jumps and rails, the race piste where you can see who is the fastest in the family. There is a long, easy descent down into the valley with snowmaking facilities to ensure good snow cover throughout the season. Those looking for an alternative to skiing and snowboarding can try the local toboggan run measuring five kilometres from top to bottom. Throughout the resort you will find a selection of huts and restaurants serving food. Further alternative activities include a winter walking trail to the top of the Spieljoch mountain as well as a visit to the Erlebnistherme Zillertal spa and swimming centre.

DEALS & DISCOUNTS. The easy practice area at the bottom of the Spieljochbahn cable car can be used free of charge by children up to 10 years of age. For older children there are special deals depending on their age. These age-based prices are also available on tickets for the whole resort. Family discounts are available on season tickets.

CHILD-FRIENDLY SKI SCHOOLS.

The friendly and experienced instructors at the Skischule Skicheck will be happy to show children and teenagers the right technique for a fun and safe time on the slopes. The ski school has its own chillout areas at the top and bottom stations of the main cable car, where youngsters can relax and also have lunch.
