The municipality of Wiesing lies in the Inntal Valley, near Lake Achensee, at the point where the Zillertal Valley branches off to the south.
Thanks to its central location, Wiesing is an excellent base for visitors wishing to explore the Inntal Valley as well as the nearby Rofan Mountains and Karwendel Mountains. How you do so is, of course, up to you! Hiking trails and mountainbiking trails connect the many traditional wooden huts down in the valley and up at the peaks. No visit to the region would be complete without a sightseeing trip on one of the steamboats which criss-cross Lake Achenseee. Fans of old trains can take a ride on the world's oldest rack-and-pinion railway line running from Jenbach to Maurach. It has been in operation for more than 25 years.
During the cold months of the year the municipality of Wiesing is a snowy winter wonderland with 3km of well-maintained cross-country skiing trails. Families and beginners can take their first turns on alpine skis at the small draglift in the village.
