There are two ski resorts near Walchsee, Zahmer Kaiser and Hochkössen, where families and beginners in particular will enjoy the quiet location and beautiful views.
Nestled between the peaks of the Zahmer Kaiser Mountains and the Chiemgau Alps, Walchsee is a quiet corner of Tirol offering a contrast to the region's larger ski networks. Above the small village of Durchholzen, west of Walchsee, you will find one resort in the rolling foothills of the Chiemgau Alps with mainly easy and intermediate pistes. There is also a ski school with experienced instructors offering both one-to-one tuition and children's group courses. The nearby resort of Hochkössen – which can be reached in just 20 minutes by ski bus – has a slightly larger range of slopes including a few challenging ones for advanced and expert skiers.
