Untertilliach in the Lesachtal Valley has the smallest population of any municipality in East Tirol, making it a haven of peace and quiet for holidaymakers looking to get away from it all to their own private paradise.
Home to just 240 residents, Untertilliach is a pretty mountain village in untouched alpine surroundings. Summer activities include hiking and mountainbiking, with many trails leading up to traditional wooden huts in the mountains serving hearty local food served with spectacular views. Among the most popular hiking destinations are the Kircher Almen, which can be reached within around two hours on foot. Annual highlights include the "Almfest" celebration with a church service on the mountain held each autumn. In winter there are 60km of cross-country skiing trails and endless options for off-piste ski touring.
