Strassen in East Tirol promises visitors unique mountain views, unspoilt landscape and a very warm welcome.
The municipality of Strassen in Osttirol (East Tirol) lies in the Pustertal Valley and is home to around 800 inhabitants. Here at 1,100 metres above sea level visitors will find a haven of peace and quiet with stunning mountain views, untouched nature and a traditionally warm welcome. The Carnic Alps, Dolomites and Villgrater Mountains offer an almost endless range of hiking options and are also home to a huge diversity of fauna and flora. The reservoir in Tassenbach, for example, attracts 150 different bird species and has a 2km educational trail leading around the reservoir with information boards telling guests of all ages about this alpine region.
During the cold months of the year, Strassen is transformed into a snowy winter wonderland. As well as 160km of cross-country skiing trails, the surrounding Hochpustertal holiday region offers ski touring, snowshoe hiking, tobogganing and ice skating. There is also a nearby ski resort, the Skizentrum Hochpustertal, with perfectly prepared pistes and breathtaking views.
