St. Leonhard im Pitztal is located close to a large glacier ski resort and offers wonderful views of the surrounding mountains.
Among the most eye-catching mountains near St. Leonhard im Pitztal is the Wildspitze, at 3,768 metres the highest mountain in North Tirol. This pretty village near the end of the valley gives direct access to the Pitztal Glacier & Rifflsee resort with pistes stretching all the way up to 3,440 metres above sea level. The glacier resort can be reached in just 15 minutes by car, with the underground Gletscherexpress funicula giving swift and easy access to the slopes. The Rifflseebahn cable car in Mandarfen can also be used to access the resort. Up on the glacier there are many state-of-the-art lifts, pistes for all abilities and on-mountain restaurants. The highest point on the glacier is the 3,440-metre-high Hinterer Brunnenkogel offering majestic views of the surrounding landscape.
