Schönberg enjoys a fabulous location at the foot of the mighty Serles mountain. At 1,013m the village marks the point where the Wipptal Valley and the Stubaital Valley converge.
Schönberg in the Stubaital Valley is an important point on the north-south trade route dominated these days by the Brennerautobahn motorway leading over the border to Italy. This motorway passes over the iconic "Europabrücke" bridge, at 192 metres in height a popular destination for bungee jumpers. Schönberg has a population of 1,000 and lies just 10km from the regional capital Innsbruck. Activities in the surrounding mountains of the Wipptal Valley and Stubaital Valley include skiing and tobogganing in winter as well as mountainbiking, mountaineering and hiking in summer.
