Pians is a small village in a beautiful location at 856m overlooking the entrance to the Paznauntal Valley.
The municipality of Pians is home to around 800 inhabitants, though the population increases significantly in winter and summer as holidaymakers flock to this pretty area. Activities include skiing, mountain biking and mountaineering. During the warm summer months there is a large network of hiking trails leading to the beautiful mountain chapels in the mountains of the Paznauntal Valley, while there is also plenty going on in winter. To the west of Pians the two rivers Rosanna (coming from the Stanzer Tal Valley) and Trisanna (coming from the Paznauntal Valley) meet to form the larger Sanna.
