Pettneu am Arlberg is a pretty village in the Stanzer Tal Valley near the town of Landeck, surrounded by the mighty summits of the Lechtal Alps and the Verwall Mountains.
It is home to around 1,460 residents and is known as the quieter, more family-friendly alternative to the international wintersport hotspot of St. Anton am Arlberg just a few kilometres to the west. Sunny Pettneu lies on the banks of a small river, the Rosanna, and is a popular starting point for walks and hikes to the nearby mountains such as the Hoher Riffler (3,168 m) and along the Lechtal River High Trail with its fabulous panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. In winter, when the region is covered with a thick layer of snow, beginners and families enjoy the small but perfectly formed local ski area above the village offering a range of slopes up to 2,000 metres above sea level. And for those few days when the weather gods are not smiling there is the nearby adventure leisure centre with an indoor swimming pool, selection of saunas and even a crushed ice grotto.
