Pettnau is a long, thin municipality to the north of the Inn river. As one of Innsbruck's Holiday Villages, it comprises seven settlements. Many of these have maintained their traditional charm and are still home to wooden farmhouses.
Around 1,000 people live in the seven settlements which make up Pettnau. They are joined in summer and winter by many holidaymakers who appreciate the beautiful mountains and total peace and quiet. Facilities include a campsite, riding stables and a fishing centre. The Mellauner Hof in Pettnau is the oldest inn anywhere in Tirol. Architectural highlights include a number of religious buildings such as the Georgskirche church in the settlement of Leiblfing, which has gained fame in Tirol and beyond as a popular postcard motif. By the way, be careful when setting your GPS: Pettnau is often mistaken for Pettneu am Arlberg and vice versa!
