Nußdorf-Debant is a municipality covering sections of the Debanttal Valley and the area west of Lienz, the largest town in East Tirol. Nußdorf enjoys an idyllic location at the foot of the Nußdorfer Berg, while Debant lies at the entrance to the pretty Debanttal Valley.
Two thirds of the area covered by the municipality of Nußdorf-Debant lie within the borders of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Both Nußdorf and Debant are home to many young families, attracted by the sunny location and proximity to Lienz. The two villages have a combined population of over 3,000. The landscape is dominated by peaks over 3,000 metres high such as those in the Schober Massif. The highest is the Hochschober at 3,242 metres. On hot summer days there are few better places to relax and cool off than the area next to the Debantbach stream. Also well worth a visit is the parish church in Nußdorf, which was built in 1450 and extended in the second half of the 17th century.
