Located in the west of Tirol, Landeck is a cultural hub at the intersection of the Upper Inntal Valley, the Paznauntal Valley and the Stanzer Tal Valley connecting Tirol to the province of Vorarlberg.
With a population of almost 7,800 it is the largest town and administrative centre of one of the most visited regions of Tirol. Its iconic symbol, Landeck Castle, stands proudly atop a rocky outcrop overlooking the town. This fortress dating back to the 13th century today houses a local history museum and serves as a venue for other events such as concerts and exhibitions. Music also plays an important role in Landeck, and some of the many local brass bands have earned themselves an international reputation. Nature lovers can visit the Zammer Lochputz in neighbouring Zams and use the adventure trail to explore this fascinating gorge with its mighty Kronburger Wasserfall. Other excursions include visits to the Kronburg and Burg Schrofenstein fortresses as well as bike rides along the Inn Cycle Path. In winter, Landeck is a good base for skiing and snowboarding. Both the Venet ski area and the resorts included on the Ski-6 lift pass are just a short drive away.
