The Kitzbühel Alps offer ideal terrain for keen mountain bikers. Especially the village of Kirchberg is known for its singletrails and bikepark. The latter offers a series of routes with plenty of jumps, drop-offs and Northshore elements.
The number one spot for beginners in the area is the Lisi Osl Trail, which can be accessed via the Gaisberglift. More challenging is the Fleckalm Trail, at seven kilometres in length one of the longest singletrails in Tirol, descending 1,100 vertical metres from start to finish. Even more tricky is the Gaisberg Trail, a favourite among downhillers and a former location for the Austrian Masters event.
Riders keen to work on their bike-handling skills should get in touch with the experts from the Bike Academy in Kirchberg. The oldest mountain bike school in Austria, it is run by former pro rider Kurt Exenberger and offers guided rides, bike camps and technique workshops. Equipment can also be hired from the Bike Academy.
