The municipality of Imsterberg lies to the south of the Inn on the lower slopes of the Venet Mountains overlooking the town of Imst.
Home to a population of just 770 inhabitants, Imsterberg is loved by both visitors and locals for its untouched landscape and centuries-old traditions passed down through the generations. Another centuries-old tradition, alongside brass band music and traditional clothing, is the distilling of schnapps. Where better to learn about this skill than at the Brennerei Schiechtlhof distillery, which has been owned by the same family for more than 200 years? Guests are given a guided tour of the distilling facilities and get to sample some of the local produce.
Imsterberg's central yet quiet location in the heart of the Inn Valley make it ideal for all those in search of peace and quiet. At the same time it is an excellent base for activities in the region around Imst. In summer the mighty Venet mountain has plenty of hiking and mountainbiking trails to explore, while in winter it transforms into a small but perfectly formed ski resort popular with families.
