The sunny village of Gallzein lies on a plateau high above the Inntal Valley near the town of Schwaz. It is home to 640 inhabitants spread across seven small settlements.

Those in search of something a little easier should try the "10-Kapellen-Weg" ("10 Chapels Trail") leading from Gallzein to Schwaz and back. As the name suggests, this walking path takes in ten chapels as it makes its way through lush meadows and cool forests.
In winter there are a number of cross-country skiing trails offering fine views of the Karwendel Mountains and the Rofan Mountains. Further highlights include a toboggan run used for international competitions. The nearby Kellerjoch ski resort has 10 kilometres of pistes, while the smaller resorts in Stans and Weerberg and ideal for children and beginners.
