A spectacular location with fantastic views await visitors to the village of Fügenberg in the Zillertal Valley. Activities in and around the region include biking, hiking and winter sports.
Fügenberg, the highest of all the villages at the start of the Zillertal Valley, marks the gateway to a huge network of hiking and biking trails. Visitors in search of peace and quiet should head to Hochfügen, a settlement at 1,500 metres above sea level popular with skiers and snowboarders in winter. It lies nestled in the Tux Alps and offers direct access to the ski resort of Hochzillertal-Hochfügen, known not only for its fine pistes but also for its excellent freeriding. The resort stretches all the way up to 2,500 metres above sea level and is a huge alpine playground for backcountry enthusiasts. Hochfügen also has a number of good hotels and is home to the exquisite fine dining restaurant "Alexander". During the summer months there is a golf course in Uderns, the Erlebnistherme Zillertal spa in Fügen, several swimming lakes and a high-rope adventure park in Zillertal in Kaltenbach. Visitors interested in local architecture and history should visit the 15th century Pankrazkirche church, which can be seen from afar, or the mining museum on Spieljoch mountain at almost 1,800 metres above sea level.
