Flaurling is a municipality in the west of the Inntal Valley. It is home to 1,300 inhabitants and lies to the south of the Inn, surrounded on all sides by lush green meadows giving way to craggy mountain peaks.
A number of traditional farmhouses and the former hunting lodge in the centre of the village, dating back to the 15th century, are proof of Flaurling's long and proud history. Schnapps distilleries also have a long tradition in this part of Tirol, with several giving visitors the chance to see how schnapps is made and to sample the local produce. One such distillery is the Edelbrennerei Friedl Mair in Flaurling, which lies on the Tirolean Schnapps Trail and provides a fascinating insight into the techniques used to make this potent but delicious brew.
Thanks to its central location, visitors to Flaurling have only a short drive to the town of Telfs and the regional capital Innsbruck. Those who prefer to get back to nature can explore the forestd and mountains on foot or by bike. One of the most popular destinations is the Flaurlinger Alm hut, which serves traditional local food and is also the starting point for hikes into the high mountains.
