With its 1,100 residents, Erpfendorf is one of the smaller villages in the Kitzbühel area but still has plenty to offer visitors.
Erpfendorf is located in the Leukental Valley, not far from St. Johann in Tirol, where the grassy Kitzbühel Alps and the more rugged Wilder Kaiser Mountains are a huge playground for outdoor ethusiasts such as hikers and cyclists, who will particularly enjoy exploring the recently restored Großache river. Horse lovers are drawn to this corner of Tirol by the many riding trails, while golfers can tee off in stunning surroundings on the nine-hold course at the Hotel Lärchenhof. In winter there are several ski resorts in the area, including the vast Ski-Welt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental. Cross-country skiing and biathlon are also both available in Erpfendorf itself. The biggest natural highlight of this former farming village is the mighty Grießbachklamm gorge, which can be explored even by inexperienced hikers and children using paths and hanging bridges.
