Ehrwald is a village at the foot of the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain, where wintersports enthusiasts can choose from a number of ski resorts on both Austrian and German territory.
The first resort worth mentioning is in Ehrwald itself with easy slopes and a connection to the rest of the ski network further north – at the foot of the mighty Zugspitze – with more challenging pistes, a kinderland and a snowpark. Those who want to head a little higher can hop on the Tiroler Zugspitzbahn cable car leaving from Obermoos and giving direct access to the ski resort on the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain and home to the melting masses of three of the five remaining glaciers on German soil. Another resort well worth a visit is the Ehrwalder Almbahnen with its funslope, family park and snowpark. Families and beginners will enjoy the small resorts at Grubigstein (Lermoos) and Marienberg (Biberwier).
