Situated to the south of the Inn, this small village in the Lower Inntal Valley is a popular starting point for excursions into the Karwendel Mountains.
The sunny village of Buch in Tirol is home to arond 2,500 inhabitants and is an excellent starting point for hikes and bike rides into the Karwendel Mountains. In winter there is plenty to see and do in the nearby ski resorts of Fügen-Spieljoch and Hochzillertal, while those in search of a little more peace and quiet will enjoy the network of cross-country skiing trails. In the village itself there is the 16th century Schloss Rotholz castle, today home to a school of agriculture, and the protected ruins of what used to be Rottenburg fortress. Both are well worth a visit. From nearby Rotholz there is a Bible Trail to the ruins featuring sculptures carved in wood and the tallest pine tree in Tirol at 53 metres!
